This Week We had a Grrrrreat
first two days together here in Room 121! We have been very busy getting to
know one another! We have been playing lots of name games and interacting
with each other during our activity and center times! We have enjoyed many
good stories together! We are learning routines, and learning how to use
and care for our many new school supplies!! We are off to a good start and
are looking forward to sharing the school year together! Next Week- Language Art- We will begin our
literacy assessments with each student. They include: The Developmental
Reading Assessment, Hearing Sounds in Words, Concepts About
Print, Sight Word Identification and Alphabet Letter Knowledge. We will
also begin working in literacy centers and small guided reading groups. We
will be doing lots of alphabet and name activities. Each day we will focus
on a student’s name, create a chart about the students, share their
writer’s notebook covers, and make a class book about them. We will
then add their name to our classroom word wall. It will take us about 3
weeks to complete everyone in the class! Writing- We will begin our
daily writer’s workshop. We will be learning about writing tools. Math- We will learn about
shapes: circle, triangle, rectangle, square, oval, and diamond and colors. Social Studies Our unit will be Good Citizenship
