Woodford County ESL Program and Hispanic Family Services/ Back to School

Students whose first language is not English represent a growing minority population in Woodford County Schools.  Numerous different language groups are represented in grades K-12.

In our schools, English Language Learners face the triple demands of learning the English language, English literacy skills, and curriculum content.  The Woodford County ESL Program, Hispanic Family Services and the Migrant Program work together to support both our students and their parents in learning a new language, in feeling welcomed and comfortable in a new culture and in reaching high educational standards that will enable them to succeed in our society.

For information regarding the English as a Second Language Program, please contact Beth Gniot, ESL Coordinator at 873-3731 or Carmen Wilcox, Hispanic Family Liaison at 873-2421 ext.2236.
