| This year at Huntertown, I will be offering
intramurals after school for fourth and fifth graders. We will meet in the
afternoons from 2:45 to 4:00 on Tuesdays. This is a great opportunity for
the students to participate in activities that promote physical activity,
teamwork, and good sportsmanship. This fall the students may participate in ultimate football. Fall intramurals will begin September 11th and go through October 23rd. Information about soccer intramurals will be available in the spring. Rules of Ultimate Football: In the game of ultimate football the teams will work together to score touchdowns. Students must pass the football to open teammates. If the ball is dropped, the other team picks it up and starts from the dropped spot. Teammates cannot move with the ball, it must be passed. The offense can only be guarded by one person, there is no double teaming. If the ball is dropped or intercepted, the other team takes over at the spot. After a touchdown is scored, the other team begins from the end zone. The games are played in 5 minute quarters and the teams must substitute each quarter. Students will be responsible for wearing the proper clothing and shoes each day of intramurals and signing a behavior contract. If your child is unable to follow the guidelines in the contract they will be asked not to participate. If you are interested in allowing your child to participate, please sign and return the permission slip on the next page by August 31st. Your child will need to make a commitment each Tuesday afternoon if they are interested in fall intramurals. It is very important for you to pick up your child on time at 4:00. *In the event of rain the activities will be moved inside. Please feel
