Homework is as follows…

  1. Read 20 minutes every day! This is the most valuable learning of all.
  2. Spelling words will be sent home for nightly study. Words will usually include basic sight words and/or spelling skill words.
  3. Huntertown has a postal service. The students may write letters to friends throughout the school. We will write some letters in class, but students are encouraged to write letters at home too. We will address the envelopes at school. The first WEE MAIL delivery should be next week!
  4. “Math Around the House” means stimulate your child’s mathematical mind by using real objects around the house. Special attention is needed in the areas of counting money, naming coins, telling time, and problems solving with real-life issues. Also, please drill and practice the basic addition/subtraction facts for quick recall.
  5. Occasionally math books will be sent home to reinforce a concept that was covered in class. Always check your child’s backpack.
  6. Students are encouraged to bring in “Current Event” articles as often as they like. We will discuss the news and post the articles to our “News” board.
  7. Optional homework will be sent home periodically.

Your child will be bringing home a plastic reading pouch, which includes a journal, every night. The book and assignment will be in the pouch. It is very important to be prepared for small group, so please remind your child to read their assigned pages.
