Mrs. Emmons’ Class News
When you
vote on November 7, 2006, bring your children and they can vote in a “mock
election.” This program is sponsored by the Women’s Network for
Democratic Principles. Results will be available in the Woodford Sun and
the
SCIENCE – Your
child’s test should be in his/her packet of papers. The open responses
will be graded separately and will be returned next week. We are learning
about different habitats and the populations that live in a community as we
prepare for our field trip to Buckley next Thursday.
WATCH THE
WEATHER TO HELP PLAN WHAT YOUR CHILD SHOULD WEAR FOR THE FIELD TRIP ON
THURSDAY. EVERYONE WILL NEED TO WEAR LONG PANTS AND CLOSED TOE SHOES –
TENNIS SHOES, BOOTS, ETC. THE PREDICTED TEMPERATURE SHOULD DETERMINE HOW
MANY LAYERS SHOULD BE WORN. WE WILL BE DOING ACTIVITIES BOTH INSIDE AND
OUTSIDE.
Social Studies-Thank you to all the parents who donated flour and salt
for our salt dough maps. We constructed our maps on Thursday. They are still drying
and we will paint them on Wednesday. We will be painting each region a
different color and marking something that is unique to each region.
Math- In
math we are working on subtraction with borrowing, estimating differences and
rounding. The test over chapter 4 will
be next Friday.
Language
arts-We finished our story, The Great Kapok Tree. We worked with
suffixes –ful, -ly, and
–ness. We worked on writing an on demand
writing piece. We did a class on demand
about voting and the students did one on their own about a class pet.
