Our Class RULES and Behavior Plan

                               Respect people and property.

                                Use appropriate voices.

Listen and follow directions the first time

                                    they're given.

                                Exercise self-control and self-discipline.

                                Stay on task.

Our class has a basic money system to help the children manage themselves according the RULES.  Each child starts the week with $50.00 of MOO-LAH money.  As responsibilities and behavior expectations are not met, fines are given according to the seriousness of the violation.  Some common fines are listed below.  The checklist has a check in the box for each fine.  The first check on each day is $1.00, the second check on the same day in $2.00, the third is $3.00, ect.  The checks accumulate, so if your child has 2 check marks, the first is $1, the second is $2 for a total on the day of $3.  At the end of the week, each child receives a debit card deposit.  A $10 bonus is given to children with less than 2 checks.

Our Homework Policy

Huntertown's Policy

1)  Homework shall not be used as a disciplinary measure but rather as an indicator of academic progress.

2)  Homework will be a reflective continuation of classroom work.

3)  All homework will be reviewed by the assigning teacher and students will receive feedback in a timely fashion.

4)  Homework will be used as a vital link between the classroom and home, charting a student's forward progress through the academic year.

5)  Parents will be notified in writing about individual teacher's homework policy and grading procedure.

6)  Homework assignments will help promote a student's independent study skills providing a solid academic base for continuing progress through the school year.

7)  Students at all levels will be expected to complete tasks at home reflective of their age and ability.  Age and ability will be determining factors for the time necessary to complete the task.

8)  Expectations of completed homework will be individualized for each student because, not all students possess the same ability or learn at the same rate.

Fourth Grade's Homework Policy

1)  Most homework will consist of assignments not completed in class, however, some assignments will be strictly homework.   Throughout the year there will be specific projects to be done as homework, like book reports.

2)  Children need to read at home and in free time at school.  Book reports will be assigned monthly with the exception of December, March, and April.

3)  Studying for scheduled tests is a form of homework.

4)  A child has one day for each day absent to make-up homework.  Parents must send a note if extra time is needed.

5)  Homework is expected to be turned in completed and on time.  The consequence for unfinished work is loss of free time and/or recess.  If there is a legitimate reason for late work parents MUST send a note.

6)  Children will not be allowed to call home for forgotten papers, supplies, or projects.
